Ecologically, it plays a specialized role by supporting nocturnal pollinators, particularly large sphinx moths. While the Giant Sphinx moth has long been considered its primary pollinator, research has shown that other species—including the banded sphinx, fig sphinx, and streak sphinx—also visit the flower, contributing to its pollination and highlighting the orchid’s intricate relationship with its environment.
