Sunshine Mimosa (Mimosa strigillosa) is a vibrant native Florida ground-cover that carpets the landscape with its delicate, fern-like foliage and whimsical, puffball pink flowers. These flowers resemble a smaller version of Dr. Seuss's truffula trees from the book "The Lorax". In addition, this native plant is not only a great alternative to water-intensive turf lawns, but also does well in the sandy soil types found throughout Florida and thrives in the hot Florida climate. Furthermore, their flowers provide nectar to a host of native pollinators like the Zebra Longwing, Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, Cloudless Sulpher, Sweat Bee, and the Carpenter Bee.
